This Beginning of Miracles

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory (Deut 1:8)
Aunt Evielean was the first in the Welch family to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

In February or March of 1942, she came home one evening and heard two of the horses fighting in the barn. One horse was mean, so Aunt Evielean walked around to the back of the barn. As she beat against the wall to separate the horses, two large rusty nails pushed through the old wood into the palm of her hand. Aunt Evielean pulled her hand off the nails, but the wounds were deep. She had coal oil and turpentine for medicine. By the time Ollie Riley (John Russell’s sister) came to check on her, gangrene had set in. Ollie brought Susie Wilkes and Lena Stevens to pray.

When the ladies prayed, Aunt Evielean raised her hands. As praise and thanksgiving turned to worship, the swelling and dark lines of color began to leave her hand and arm. Aunt Evielean repented that day and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Ten years later John Russell came home. They lived together for the rest of their lives.
