Granddaddy's brooding did not stop Granny. In fact, her faith grew stronger. Now, both Mama and Daddy both lived for God. Then, in 1953, Uncle Charles received the Holy Ghost. According to Mama's bible, a young 17 year old evangelist, Brother (Marvin) Treece preached the revival.

Then, Uncle A.J. received his call to the ministry.

Though God was blessing the children of Abslon Colon Welch, by 1963, few people in Louisiana or Texas would believe that Uncle Charles knew God. Still, on February 11, 1953 Brother Marvin Treece planted seed deep in a young boy's heart, and fifty years later, I saw the fruit of that seed spring up bringing light to one of the darkest corners of the world.
